Seonji Haejangguk at 1AM in Ilsan – Jin 25시 is the Real Deal

반갑습니다, 미르1052입니다^^

Last night at 1AM, I suddenly craved a bowl of seonji haejangguk.
I searched for a 24-hour haejangguk place and found “Jin 25시 Seonji Haejangguk.”
Funny thing is, I had walked by it many times without realizing.
That late at night, stepping into the clean and quiet restaurant felt comforting.

Even at that hour, a few quiet diners were already seated.
I asked the staff, “Is seonji haejangguk your main dish?”
They kindly explained, “Yes. Sundae-guk and beef head soup use gomtang broth. Seonji haejangguk is a lighter stock. The sool-guk is seonji with added gopchang and more spice.”
They didn’t rush the explanation. That kindness really stood out.

The side dishes were clean and simple.

Soy sauce with finely chopped onion and green chili.
Radish kimchi that looked more like beautifully aged slices than regular kkakdugi.
But the standout was the gat-kimchi. Tangy, bold, and firm. It didn't wilt, it declared itself.
Even before mixing rice, I found myself going back to it.

Price: 11,000 KRW.

The haejangguk came boiling hot in a heavy black bowl.
Loaded with cabbage greens, seonji, tripe, and more.
From the first spoonful, I knew it was legit.

I added chopped chili, chili oil, and a touch of daetegi paste.
The broth became spicy, rich, and full of depth.
The blood was soft and clean-tasting.
There was so much food, but I kept going. Every bite was satisfying.

I wrapped it up with a paper-cup coffee from their vending machine.
And yes, the coffee was good too.

Would I return? Yes, definitely.
Would I recommend it? Absolutely. It was a satisfying, soulful meal.

Sometimes when you search for a late-night place, it turns out disappointing.
This one wasn’t. It was the right choice, and it’s a real local gem.
