Have you ever waited for Friday just to watch a drama?
That’s how I feel these days, because of a Netflix series called When Life Gives You Tangerines, starring IU and Park Bo-gum.
The title itself already sounds poetic, and it’s actually a Jeju dialect meaning “Thank you for your hard work.” From the first episode, I was completely drawn into its warmth and emotional depth.

IU plays Ae-soon, a sharp and rebellious girl, often described as "clever but stubborn" — or as Jeju locals say, "yo-mang-jin."
Her dialect, tone, and attitude all make the character feel incredibly real.
Park Bo-gum plays Gwan-sik, a quiet man with a loyal heart, who slowly opens up to Ae-soon in the softest ways.
The story follows their lives across the four seasons, from the 1950s to modern day.
The emotional rhythm feels like poetry, gentle but deep, moving you without shouting.
The drama is directed by Kim Won-seok (My Mister), and written by Lim Sang-choon (When the Camellia Blooms), so the emotional layering and cinematography are just exceptional.
Even if you're not a fan of either actor, you might find yourself moved by the slow-burning love story and the way it quietly reflects life’s seasons.
New episodes are released every Friday on Netflix.
Highly recommended if you're looking for something heartfelt and beautifully written.

박보검은 무쇠같이 묵직한 순정을 가진 관식 역을 맡았고,
애순 앞에서만 조금씩 따뜻하게 변하는 모습이 정말 잘 표현되어 있어요.
드라마는 1950년대부터 현재까지, 사계절을 따라 두 사람의 인생을 그립니다.
리듬이 잔잔하지만 마음을 건드리는 깊이가 있어요.
연출은 ‘나의 아저씨’ 김원석 감독, 극본은 ‘동백꽃 필 무렵’ 임상춘 작가
